"Interesting" Names that I see daily.

Heres a selection for you....

Harleigh, Tarhlia, Darcy, Tallara, Anezka, Caitlyn, Cheyenne, Levi, Sienna, Brock, Alanah, Briony, Seth, Tiahna, Zahavah, Ieuan, Jye, Tania, Jorja, Saphiah, Kiara, Petria, Xander, Anjali, Zaine, Veloneika, Staskia

I'd like to name my child a traditional family name that has meaning to me. I see names like this in the next generation CONSTANTLY! and i think these poor kids are going to be spelling their names 3-4 times to people for the rest of their life.

I understand some of these are lovely and just novel whereas others are simply "Epiy'nnee-Raii" type names. This is a very controversial and personal topic - i'd be interested in what people have to say about it.

Bryony is my top girls' name since i was preggers with nate!!
a couple of the names you mentioned are biblical & bin around for yonks; eg Seth and Levi. a couple are weird spellings of normal names eg Georgia (Jorja) Caitlyn Jye Tania etc.
i think in most cases, people just want to be different or individual.

My name is fairly simple and i have in my whole life met 2 others by my name, i am forever spelling it out or correcting pronunciation. but i dont really mind , its way better than my surname, its cool that if you say Kiah most of my friends would think of me.
my gf Meryka who has daughters Sapphira and Cheralee has a lot more of a mouthful everytime she introduces her family.

I like names with a strong meaning, which sounds nice, It MUST go with the surname ESPECIALLY for boys, my favourite list mainly consists of english-origin, old fashioned, 3 syllable, soft vowels sounds.

I am not partial to giving my child a name like Zahavah which to me just says that the mum wants to be different and out there .. however if i liked the sound of the name then maybe i would consider it.

so there ya go, my opinion!!!
Maybe in the long run, the people being different are the "boring" ones because in the next generation there will be so few toms dicks and harrys!

i agree with your "different will be boring" note.
And it is handy to say Kiah and Jimmy knows who i mean. Do you know how many Angela's i know! But i like the name Angela, especially if it makes you think of angels.
Apparently the most common female name in our generation is Jessica. I do know a few Jessica's.

Seth and Levi are very biblical and the kid who used to live in our house was Josiah.

I'm not going to reveal my favourite names! they always get taken when you do that!
